FAMILY / SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP
Spousal sponsorship under the Canadian Immigration Act: A program for family reunification
The IRCC's family/spousal sponsorship program brings together close relatives who are separated by distance. Since the implementation of this program following World War II, applicants have been given priority by the Canadian immigration office on the basis of family sponsorship. The additional goals of this program are to boost the economy and promote a positive outlook on helping humanity. It is the second-highest category in which requests are received by the authority.

Sponsorship Contract
A locking time known as the sponsorship undertaking exists in the
sponsorship scheme. The person is required by law to provide for their
family throughout this time. In the event that the sponsored members require
social assistance, you will also have to pay for it.
The pledge is relevant in each and every sponsorship situation. It is
non-refundable even in the event that circumstances change (for example, if
the person you are sponsoring becomes a citizen of Canada, if you get
divorced or separated, or if you are experiencing unstable finances). It
will depend on the family member you are supporting and, in the case of
children, their age, how long the undertaking is that you will be required
to sign:

Spousal Types: Applications for Common-Law Sponsorship
Inland: Since the individual you wish to sponsor resides in Canada,
the application can be completed there. Under this type of sponsorship,
candidates are permitted to remain in Canada while their application for
permanent residence is being processed.
Assume the application originates from Canada. During the time that the
sponsorship application is being handled, the individual you are sponsoring
may apply for an open work visa, which would let them work in Canada for any
business.
Partners or spouses may enter Canada by requesting a Temporary Resident Visa
(TRV).
Outland: A Canadian Embassy or Consulate creates the application from a foreign location. In this instance, the foreign national you are sponsoring will likely wait to become a permanent resident of another country, albeit they may come see you in Canada.
Sponsoring Children Dependent on Their Parents
Whether they are adopted or biological, you are able to support your dependant children's permanent residence in Canada. br For children to be eligible for the program, they must meet the following requirements:
- If a child is under 22 and not married or in a common-law partnership, they are deemed dependent.
A child who is older than 22 and suffers from a medical or mental illness that prevents them from being self-sufficient may be classified as dependent.
Encourage your parents or grandparents to volunteer.
Two programs allow Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their parents and grandparents to remain in the country: the Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship Program (PGP).
In order to be eligible for the Parents and Grandparents Program, you need to be:
- Need to be a citizen or long-term resident of Canada
- Have attained the age of eighteen,
- Have the person(s) you are supporting as your kid or grandchild,
- Completing the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) required for their family size and presenting notices of examination from the Canada Revenue Agency as documentation
- Sign a sponsorship agreement pledging to provide for the family member(s)' basic requirements for a period of 20 years.
By co-signing the undertaking, your spouse or common-law partner can help you achieve the income criteria.
Family sponsorship is provided by Indowest.
